There are over 5,200 bus stops across York Region.
All YRT/Viva stops are clearly marked with a bus stop sign that includes a bus stop number and our Customer Service contact information.
Bus stops that are more frequently used will have street furniture. YRT/Viva street furniture includes the following amenities: transit shelters, benches, bike racks, waste/recycling receptacles, multi-publication units, newspaper box organizers, schedule display cases and community information kiosks.
YRT/Viva Coordinated Street Furniture Program
York Region is currently implementing the Coordinated Street Furniture Program at YRT/Viva on-street facilities which will include some of the following amenities:
- Transit shelters
- Benches
- Bike racks
- Waste and recycling receptacles
- Multi-publication units
- Schedule display cases
- Community information kiosks
The Coordinated Street Furniture Program presents YRT/Viva and the area municipalities with the opportunity to promote an identifiable service across the Region. This is achieved by a unified and cohesive regional image while making 'places' within the public realm. It also supports a number of Regional policies through promoting a transit-supportive public realm, well-designed and accessible public places and pedestrian-friendly streetscapes.
